I served in the army as an Artilleryman so I really do not know significantly at all about aviators other than that we were always content to see them flying overhead to engage enemy troops in front of us in battle. As a Ahead Observer I had the responsibility of calling and coordinating air assistance for our maneuver units. Air help was constantly employed for the huge targets such as troop concentrations which needed to be broken just before our ground troops could engage with them.
